Shock as treasurer found dead in office at Kira Division

Wakiso, (UG): The Territorial Police in Kampala Metropolitan are actively investigating the sudden death of one Godfrey Mbona, a treasurer who was found dead in his office during lunchtime on Wednesday, October 04, 2023.

According to KMP Deputy Spokesperson Mr Luke Owoyesigyire, the unfortunate and sudden incident happened at around 1 pm at the Kira Division offices situated in Bulindo, Kira Division, within Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

“..it is alleged that Mr Godfrey arrived at work in a normal state. However, during his lunch break, something unusual occurred. Upon returning from lunch, some of his colleagues noticed that he had locked himself inside his office,” Mr Owoyesigyire noted in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

“Concerned for his well-being, they peeped through the window and were alarmed to find him lying against the wall of the office restroom.”

Owoyesigyire explained that swift action was taken, and the matter was promptly reported to the Kiwologoma Police Station.

“The police responded promptly, and Mr Godfrey’s body was retrieved and subsequently conveyed to the City Mortuary in Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination,” the deputy police spokesperson noted.

“Our dedicated team of experts is working tirelessly to determine the exact cause of Mr. Godfrey’s tragic passing. We understand the public’s desire for answers, and we are committed to providing updates as soon as more information becomes available.”

The incident has sent shockwaves across Kira considering that Mbona was considered a very healthy man with speculations surrounding a possible suicidal act from the deceased.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Mr Mbona Godfrey’s family and friends during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them,” Mr Owoyesigyire said in conclusion of a Wednesday statement.
