One-year-old girl rescued from Mukono pit latrine

Mukono, (UG): The Fire Brigade and Rescue Services in Kayunga District have rescued a one-and-a-half-year-old female child from a hazardous 50-foot pit latrine in Sinda Kivuluba village, Kasawo Town Council, Naggalama Division, Mukono District.

Preliminary findings indicate that the toddler accidentally fell into the latrine on Saturday, October 7th while attempting to relieve herself.

On realization, the caretaker made a report to the police in the area who made a timely response to the incident to see the child recovered while still alive.

Following the rescue operation, the child was transported to Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital for thorough medical attention.

Ssezibwa Regional Police Spoeksperweon, Ms Hellen Butoto hailed the effective actions of the police rescue team who played a crucial role in saving the little girl’s life.

“We express our sincere appreciation to the rescue team for their unwavering commitment and quick response, ensuring a positive outcome in this challenging rescue mission,” Ms Butoto said.
