Uganda Premier League (KCCA FC 1-2 Express FC, Sunday, October 8, 2023)

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC continued a winless start in the league after falling to their rivals Express FC in yet another home defeat of the campaign.

The Kasasiro Boys who lost to BUL FC and Maroons in the opening two match-days, fell to the better side of Express FC in a 1-2 full-time result at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Eagle’s new boy Isaac Waigona who joined them from Busoga United turned the hero of the afternoon when he notched home substitute Eddy Ssebandeke’s cross in a decider goal to collect all the three points at Lugogo.

The visitors had batlled for 21 minutes of the first half as Derrick Ngoobi talentively headed them a superb header from Isma Kawawulo’s corner.

Meanwhile, KCCA answered a few minutes later thanks to Shaban Muhammad’s header after he was set up by Usama Arafat.

The home boys got better chances especially in the first half but Shaban could not connect with a Bruno Adilson low cross and Joel Sserunjogi failed to deliver to Derrick Ochan while inside the area.

However, after Shaban levelled matters, the Kasasiro Boys never looked like a side capable of registering there first win of the season as they were lazy in their passing and had Ettiene Katenga’s effort that rattled the woodwork gone-in, it would’ve felt more like a steal.

KCCA Head coach Sergio Traguil who was extremely emotional after the loss to Maroons has his work cut out in attempt to revive a side that is supposed to be contending for trophies this season yet they are yet to pick up a single point this season and currently sit 14th on the table.
