Kabale, (UG): Kaharo Health Center III in Kaharo Sub County, Kabale District is struggling to provide health services due to lack of clean and safe water, DailyExpress has established.
The facility that receives over 1000 people seeking health services depends on one bore hole and two harvesting water tanks which dry up during dry season.
The Health In charge, Mr Innocent Bright revealed this today during a needs assessment by Rotary International in partnership with United States Agency for International Development at the facility.
Mr Innocent noted that patients and the facility staff sometimes are forced to trek more than a kilometer to collect water during the dry season. He added that lack of water at the facility threatens the efforts of health service provision.
The Assistant Rotary African Region Foundation Chairperson Peace Taremwa said that the rotary club of Kabale is now left with a responsibility to write and forward the needs assessment and areas of interest to attract the funding.
He added that the Rotary International intends to extend water in over 1000 health facilities in the whole country.
The Kabale District Health Dr Gilbert Arineitwe Mateeka that the district is financially constrained to cater for needs of the facility.
