Fire guts pupils’ dormitory at St. Theresa – Kisubi Girls School

Entebbe, (UG): The Territorial Police at Entebbe Division in Wakiso District is actively investigating a case of fire outbreak Wednesday morning at St. Theresa Kisubi Girls Primary School leaving property worth millions of shillings destroyed into ashes.

The fire whose exact cause remains unknown occurred at approximately 8 am and is believed to have started in the Primary Four Dormitory according to preliminary reports.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said police responded swiftly to the scene and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services prevented the fire from spreading further, successfully extinguishing it.

“We are relieved to report that no injuries or loss of life were recorded, as all pupils had safely evacuated the dormitory before the fire ignited. Regrettably, all items within the dormitory were lost in the blaze,” Mr Owoyesigyire said in a Wednesday morning police statement.

He added that a dedicated team of investigators from police is diligently working to uncover the circumstances leading to this incident.

“We are committed to establishing the precise cause and ensuring the safety and security of our educational institutions. We will provide further updates as our investigation progresses,” Owoyesigyire stated.
