BIG LEAGUE: Mbale Heroes face disciplinary action over fans’ hooliganism

Mbale Heroes FC and their official, Chemisto Badru have found themselves in hot water as the FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) initiates proceedings against them. 

This comes in the wake of alleged acts of violence and hooliganism committed by the club’s fans and Chemisto Badru himself, targeting match officials after a high-stakes Big League match against Young Elephants FC on 22nd October 2023 at Mbale Municipal Stadium.

“The FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has opened disciplinary proceedings against Mbale Heroes FC for alleged acts of violence and hooliganism perpetrated against match officials by their fans and its official Chemisto Badru after the Big League game against Young Elephants FC on 22nd October 2023 at Mbale Municipal stadium.” A statement from Uganda’s football governing body read.

According to the statement, the FDP has cited specific provisions from the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code and the FUFA Competition rules, including Articles 14(8), 14(11), and 39(3), as the basis for the disciplinary action.

Subsequently, Mbale Heroes FC and Chemisto Badru have been given until Tuesday, 31st October 2023, 5:00 pm, to submit written responses over the allegations.

These responses according to the disciplinary panel will serve as an opportunity to contest and/or dispute the charges and provide compelling reasons why sanctions should not be imposed in accordance with the established regulations.

“Mbale Heroes FC and Chemisto Badru must submit written responses by Tuesday 31st October 2023 5:00 pm to contend and or dispute their actions and state the reasons why they should not be sanctioned in accordance with the regulations.” A statement concluded.
