Morrocan football giants, Wydad AC and South Africa’s powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns are set to clash in the first leg of the African Football League (AFL) final. 

The first leg, happening tomorrow, Sunday, 05 November 2023, at Casablanca’s Stade Mohammed V, promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of Africa’s most enterprising clubs.

The second leg will be played in Pretoria (Tshwane), South Africa at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, 12 November 2023 at 15H00 local time (13H00 GMT and 15H00 Cairo time) where the Inaugural African Football League (“AFL”) Champions will be crowned.

Both teams have earned their spot in the finals through remarkable performances. 

Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place after a triumph against Egyptian side, Al Ahly, while Wydad AC emerged victorious in a penalty shootout against Esperance de Tunis.

As the final spectacle draws near, the head-to-head statistics between Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad AC reveal an interesting dynamic. 

Mamelodi Sundowns remain unbeaten in their last five encounters with Wydad, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the upcoming match.

With the maiden AFL title at stake, anticipation is running high among fans. 

The AFL, established in collaboration with FIFA, aims to elevate the quality and commercial viability of African club football. 

The winner of the inaugural AFL will be awarded a prize money of USD 4 million, with the runner-up receiving USD 3 million.
