Arua Catholic Diocese okays extension of Radio Pacis to Nebbi

Arua, (UG): The Bishop of Arua Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sabino Ochan Odoki has candidly blessed the move that will see the management of Radio Pacis 94.5 FM extend its arm in the Nebbi Catholic Diocese purposely to serve Alur-speaking communities in the region.

Bishop Sabino was addressing the different stakeholders who converged for the 19th-anniversary celebrations of Radio Pacis and the official launch of the Nebbi Bureau. He noted that the station 94.5 FM majorly broadcasts programs in the Alur language hence it’s imperative to instate it near the targeted beneficiaries.

“… I bless this move instead of the station being in Arua and the people of Nebbi to go up to Arua to use it. I want to give my blessing that it can also be brought to Nebbi….,” Bishop Odoki remarked during the address.

Radio Pacis launched on 26th November 2004 with only one frequency 90.9fm, to-date has four frequencies, 90.9fm (Arua), 94.5fm (formerly Arua, now Nebbi), 101.4fm (Gulu) and 104.8fm (Moyo), combing airwaves in Northern Uganda, parts of Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.

DailyExpress was briefed on the paranoia and sceptical thoughts on the amicable co-existence of the two Catholic-founded Radios of Maria and Pacis but the leaders have been guided considerably on the purposes of the two radios.

Rt. Rev. Raphael P’Mony Wokorach, the Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese welcomed the move to establish the station 94.5 fm and expressed optimism for the co-existence of Radio Pacis and Radio Maria saying; “..we are glad to see, both radio pacis and Maria do the same work of evangelization but from different perspectives, Radio Maria is governed by policies from the Radio Maria family based in Italy and strictly linked to spiritual nourishment, much as Radio Pacis does the same, it expands its horizons and gives space for talks on issues that affect lives of people and businesses,” Bishop Wokorach said.
