Museveni’s office unveils shs150m budget towards Busoga Royal Wedding

Kampala, (UG): The Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC) led by Hajjat Hadijah Uzeiye Namyalo has boosted the preparations for the Busoga Royal Wedding with a budget allocation of 150 million shillings, DailyExpress understands.

The Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV is expected to walk down the aisle with his queen-to-be, Inhebantu of Busoga Her Royal Highness Jovia Mutesi on 18 November 2023. Prior to the wedding, there will be a Kasiki (pre-wedding party) happening this Friday 10 November 2023 at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja City, organized by the Kyambogo-based ONC office together with the Busoga Kingdom leadership.

While unveiling ONC’s contribution before Busoga Kingdom Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muvawala at Sheraton Kampala on Monday afternoon, Hajjat Namyalo who doubles as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs revealed that of the shs150m from her office, a cash contribution of shs10m will go directly to the organizing committee of the wedding while shs140m will be used in procuring income-generating items which she will donate to the Busoga youths and women during the Friday Kasiki.

Some of the items to be donated at the Kasiki include; Wielding machines, popcorn machines, deep fryers, hair dryers, frying pans, charcoal stoves, brick laying machines, machines for making pavers, machines for grinding G. nuts, seeds, sprayers, fertilizers, hoes among others.

Hajjat Namyalo noted that as partners of the mega wedding, ONC intends to leave a footprint by supporting the kingdom subjects with empowerment items and with the guidance of the Prime Minister, she will make sure that all the regions benefit depending on their needs.

She also revealed that as ONC, they are deeply honoured to have been invited to partner with Busoga kingdom not only to celebrate Kyabazinga’s special milestone but also to empower his people during such a lifetime occasion further describing it as a wedding of the year.

”Am happy we are doing this with the Kingdom and all we shall be giving out on that day will be free of charge and not politicized in any way, so those from NRM, NUP, and FDC are all welcome because they are all bazzukulu of HE Yoweri Museveni,” Namyalo said.

”We all know how hardworking Basogas are, we all know that the yummy chapatis we enjoy most here in Kampala are something that was initiated by basoga, we also know very well how these people support our beloved Jajja Museveni, so I call them up on to come in large numbers on 10th this month we equip them with tools to help them kick poverty out of their homes,” she added.

According to Namyalo, Friday’s Kasiki won’t just be a pre-wedding party but an empowerment activity to the youths and women as they celebrate their King’s massive wedding and one of its kind.

Speaking after receiving the shs10m contribution, Dr Muvawala commended Ms Namyalo for partnering with the Busoga Kingdom on such a special occasion and for being visionary to use the same occasion to empower the people of Busoga region during the celebrations.

The Premier thus called upon all the youths and the entire Busoga region to come and get empowered as they celebrate with their King and their queen-to-be.
