Kampala, (UG): The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has released the official burial programme for the fallen second vice president Darius Mugoye who passed away on Tuesday morning at Mengo Hospital in Kampala.
According to the programme, the deceased’s body will be taken to FUFA Complex, Mengo for a vigil at 4 pm till overnight where all football stakeholders will gather and pay final respects.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 08th, the body will at 7 am be taken to Namirembe Cathedral for a church service and later to Nabweru playground at 10 am for public viewing.
From Nabweru, the body will be transported to Rubanga Sheema District at 2 pm where they will hold a vigil at his country home.
According to the programme, Mugoye will be laid to rest on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Rubanga, Sheema District.
Profile Background
Darius Mugoye was in 2013 voted FUFA 2nd Vice President during the Federation Assembly held in Jinja. He later became Secretary FUFA Licensing Board in 2013 and Chairman FUFA Competitions Committee 2013 -2017.
Mugoye served as the Chairperson of FUFA Women Adhoc Football Committee for all women’s football competitions in 2015 that oversaw the start of the FUFA Women Elite League (now FUFA Women Super League).
Voted to represent Kampala Region League clubs in the FUFA Assembly since 2017.
He was chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2019 CECAFA U20 Championship held in Gulu and at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
In 2017, Mugoye served as the Vice Chairman of the FUFA Adhoc Committee that was assigned to bring back football glory days in Northern Uganda.
Has been Chairman of the FUFA SACCO since its inception in 2021.
Was head of the FUFA Finance function-appointed during restructuring of Internal operations of FUFA Executive by FUFA President in 2022.
In 2022, he was appointed by FUFA President as Head of the FUFA Stakeholders, Strategic Relations and Innovations Committee in 2022 during restructuring of Internal operations of FUFA Executive.
In 2023, Member of the FUFA working committee for the East Africa Pamoja AFCON 2027 winning bid.
He has been a Member Board of Director at FUFA Media Services Limited.
Mugoye has also been a Member Director of Directors FUFA Sportsware Limited.
He has also been serving as a Member Director of Directors of the FUFA Hospitality and Travel Agency Limited.
