The Contest: KCCA FC vs. Vipers SC
The Time: 7pm
The Venue: MTN Omondi Stadium
Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) is set to face off against Vipers SC in a highly anticipated showdown on November 10th, 2023, at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
With a history of 22 previous meetings between the two clubs, Vipers SC holds the upper hand, but as midfielder Milton Karisa asserts, this time, Vipers is poised to bring a different game.
Karisa, who’s been a prominent figure in these encounters, believes in the resilience and focus of the current Vipers squad.
“You’ve got to face the best teams in the League early when the opportunity comes,” he said, adding; “They wouldn’t want to play us at this moment according to the situation they are in but that’s what the fixture says. I’m not going to lie when I say that it’s going to be a very difficult game, we know how hard it’s going to be since they will be looking for their first win.
Despite the challenges that KCCA FC is facing, Karisa acknowledges the intensity of the matchup and emphasizes the importance of self-improvement, recalling a narrow 1-0 loss in the previous season.
“We’ve just got to look at ourselves and think how we’ve to improve more compared to the seasons we’ve played them recently. We lost 1-0 at their place last season, we can’t be doing stuff like that because we have won from there on many occasions. We’re a lot more resilient this season.” He added.
“I can’t really see that happening. We’re a lot more focused and dedicated. Who knows? We’ll see, but we’ll give them a good game, definitely.”He concluded.
One key development for Vipers SC is the return of playmaker Allan Okello, who rejoined full-team training after a spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury. Okello’s potential inclusion adds an extra layer of intrigue to the contest, given his history with KCCA FC.
“Allan Okello returned to full team training and is in the squad to face KCCA FC but will face a late fitness test,” a statement from Vipers read.
Injury concerns persist for Vipers Sc, with players like Murushid Juuko, Hilary Mukundane, Alfred Mudekereza, Marvin Joseph Youngman, and Fumador Asiwome undergoing various stages of rehabilitation and treatment.
Currently, Vipers SC sits in third place on the league table with 14 points, while KCCA FC languishes at the bottom with just one point to their name.
As the teams prepare to clash, all eyes will be on the MTN Omondi Stadium for what promises to be a thrilling chapter in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
