According to preliminary investigations, It’s alleged that the deceased was a Christian worshipping from Depth Ministries Church under the leadership of Pastor Bukenya Daniel, who upon meeting became close associates and agreed to save her money arguing that he would later give it to her anytime she needed it.

Mr Kasasira explains that the savings over time accumulated to Shs 16 million, but when the deceased requested to have her money from the pastor, he claimed that she only saved Shs 800,000.

This prompted the deceased to report the matter to the Police at CPS, Ibanda on November 6, 2023.

“it is further reported that when the Pastor was called, he didn’t respond to her calls. The deceased was then advised to seek legal redress in civil courts of law since the matter was civil in nature,” the Rwizi Region police spokesman explains.

“…the next day she went back to the pastor, where things remained the same and the deceased decided to take poison from the church in front of the Pastor,” he adds.

The woman was then rushed to the nearest clinic, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police say that the body of the deceased was conveyed to Ruhoko Health Center 4 Mortuary for Postmortem, as inquiries into the matter proceed.
