Zombo, (UG): The political head of Zombo District local government, Mr James Oyullu has expressed his optimism about the delivery of the multi-million Otheko Health Centre II upgrade project in the nearest 2-month extended timeline for the completion of construction works and stocking of the 800 million shillings worth in Paidha subcounty.
The construction of the project is funded by Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfer (UGIFT) aimed at fostering the upgrade of the facility to Health Centre III status and a general facelift of available infrastructures so as to effectively administer quality health services to the predominantly peasant communities of Paidha subcounty.
The upgrade is also expected to create autonomy and decongest Paidha Health Centre III by creating access to healthcare services at close proximity.
DailyExpress has intimately learnt that the facility should have been completed in the 2022/23 financial year but due to untimely disbursement of funds and delayed processes of procurement, the allotted sum of money was revoked from the district, back to the national treasury, hence the justification for the stalled progress but now money is redisbursed and construction is robustly executed.
During the ad hoc monitoring and supervision of the facility, Oyullu, the LC5 Chairperson for Zombo District expressed his gratitude to the government of Uganda for availing funds for the upgrade of the facility saying in verbatim; “…we are very grateful to the government for the donation and also giving us this great building, this will lead us to health centre III status.”
Without lamentations, he also extended his outstanding applause to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development for swiftly releasing money to equip the health facility with the necessary machinery.
Otheko and Amwonyu Health Centre II are set for an upgrade to Health Centre III status in Zombo District with support from the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfer ( UGIFT) fund.
