Former Zombo speaker Simeo Keronega laid to rest in Paidha

Zombo, (UG): A multitude of senior citizens, political, religious and cultural leaders within Zombo District and beyond, yesterday (Monday) thronged the funeral mass of the late Simeo Keronega, a former speaker of Paidha Town Council in Zombo District

Keronega, 83, died over the weekend after a short illness in Nyapea Hospital.

This publication learnt that Keronega previously served this country in various capacities ranging from being a staff sergeant in the Uganda Prison Service, to a Councilor representing the elderly at the time of his demise, he was a board member of Paidha Town Council LC3 court alongside other highly recognized positions of lay service in Christ the King Chapel, Paidha Catholic Parish.

The fallen former speaker of the council is passionately remembered for his articulate and eloquent command of the English language that earned him the name Italiano amongst other achievements and traits of humility, judiciousness and hard work. 

According to Mr Albert Munguaciel, speaker of Paidha Town Council who spoke to DailyExpress after the council sitting to eulogize the fallen former speaker, recounted the service of the deceased.”

“He joined the council as a representative of the elderly, served diligently and at the time of death he was a member of LC3 court,” said Munguaciel.

The late Keronega was a bonafide beneficiary of the government pension scheme because of his ardent service in the Uganda prison services and the graceful age of 83 years fully accorded him the name senior citizen.

Innocent Onega, LC3 Chairperson of Paidha town council said the late will be vividly remembered for his industrious work and service that pacified several communities.

The late former speaker, Simeo Keronega was laid to rest at their ancestral home in Adrupele, Paidha Town Council on Monday, November 13, 2023.
