Kampala, UGANDA: In the aftermath of the chaos that ensued the Uganda Premier League match between UDPF FC and Express FC on October 27, 2023, the FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has handed down sanctions against three Express FC fans.
Noah Bukenya, Sulaiman Zimula, and Abasi Nkata are now declared persona-non-grata (an unacceptable or unwelcome person) for a two-year period from all football competitions authorized by FUFA.
This decision comes in the wake of incidents during and after the match, where Express FC actively cooperated in identifying individuals responsible for the grievous injury sustained by assistant referee Fahad Sekayuba.
The trio, responsible for the injury, are now barred from participating in any football activities for the specified duration.
Express FC, in addition to the individual bans, has been directed by the FDP to publicize these sanctions across all digital media platforms and prominently display the information, including clear pictures of the perpetrators, at their home stadium.
The club has a 48-hour window to implement these directives, and failure to do so could lead to further sanctions imposed by the FDP.
The club is also reminded to fully cooperate with any relevant authorities and ensure the complete implementation of the FDP’s decision.
The football community watches as FUFA takes a strong stance against misconduct, sending a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
