Bulamogi, (UG): The Chief of Bulamogi Zibondo Chiefdom, Prince Edward Columbus Wambuzi has shocked his subjects after he revealed that he is yet to receive a formal invite for Saturday’s royal wedding at Bugembe in Jinja City.
Prince Wambuzi, who for long fought against the Kyabazinga’s reign until meditation talks in 2011 says unless otherwise, he will not commit himself anywhere at the functions because he has not been invited formally.
“I have not yet received any invitation; therefore, I cannot commit myself to the function which is there tomorrow,” Prince Wambuzi said on Friday, adding that even the proposed parallel virtual (wedding) functions scheduled to take place in his chiefdom remain unknown to him.
“I am completely out of the wedding arrangement” and; “On Saturday, I will stick to my normal programme by either staying at my private Palace in Nakabango or going to the official Palace in Bulamogi Chiefdom, Kaliro district.”
When contacted to address Prince Wambuzi’s concerns, the Busoga Kingdom Spokesperson, Mr Andrew Ntange said that the Prince (Wambuzi) is one of the 2,500 guests who have been invited to the royal wedding happening on Saturday at the Royal Palace in Bugembe, Jinja City.
To clarify the kind of invitation he referred to, Mr Andrew said that the Kyabazinga invited all his brothers to the royal wedding, including Prince Wambuzi, whose decision to attend, he says, will entirely depend on him and his handlers.
“Every brother of the Kyabazinga has been given an invitation to attend the wedding. He recognises all the brothers and doesn’t discriminate against any,” Mr Ntange said, before assuring the general public that the Kyabazinga and Prince Wambuzi enjoy “a cordial relationship”.
“Everyone remembers the day when the two visited each other; so, people should not think that they are at loggerheads. Those are negative energies aimed at diverting people,” Mr Ntange added.
The Kyabazinga of Busoga, HRH William Gabula Nadiope IV will tomorrow (Saturday, November 18) walk the Inhebantu, Ms Jovia Mutesi down the aisle at Christ’s Cathedral, Bugembe in Jinja North City Division in eastern Uganda.
Thereafter, the newly-wed Royal couple will host the guests at the Royal palace in Igenge, Bugembe, where thousands of subjects and high-profile persons are expected to attend.
Additionally, the Busoga Kingdom has also organized various celebration points across its 11 chiefdoms of Kigulu, Bugabula, Bugweri, Bukholi, Bukono, Bulamogi, Bunhole, Bunyha, Busiki, Butembe, and Luuka where subjects will follow the wedding event virtually.
