Somalia 0-1 Uganda Cranes

Uganda’s National Men’s Football Team, The Cranes secured their maiden victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers with a 1-0 against Somalia on Tuesday evening.

The solo goal of the match was a work of art from KCCA’s Rogers Mato in a tense match played at the Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco.

Somalia had to labour the second half with a man less after Abdi Mohammed was sent off just minutes into the break.

Uganda, however, did not capitalize on the advantage playing out a barren 45 minutes of the second half.

The match result presents a significant outcome for coach Paul Put, who recorded his first win since assuming the team’s leadership and a redemption from a 2-1 defeat against Guinea last Friday.

The Belgian made three changes from the team that faced Guinea, with a notable decision to grant 17-year-old Allan Oyirwoth not only a start but also his debut for the national team.
