He and his driver Manirakiza Moses, 29, also an engineer and resident of Burungu in Kisoro District were coming from his introduction ceremony in Rukungiri when the head-on collision with a commuter taxi happened.

According to Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson Mr Samson Kasasira, the accident involved motor vehicles UBN 375Q (Subaru Forester) and UBP314A (Toyota Hiace – white) at Kahunga Trading Center along Ntungamo-Mbarara Road.
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the Subaru was coming from Mbarara heading to Ntungamo while it was raining.
“When he was approaching Kahunga Trading Center, running water covered the road on his lane. He decided to turn to the right, violating the right of way of the oncoming UBP 314A from the opposite direction, and later a head-on-collision,” Mr Kasasira explained.
By Sunday evening, the bodies of the deceased persons had been conveyed to the Itojo Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem while both vehicles were towed and parked at Ntungamo Police Station pending inspection.
