Kampala, (UG): The High Court in Kampala has sentenced a 25-year-old man in Kampala to spend 105 years in prison for the murder of his four girlfriends and a three-month-old baby girl belonging to one of his victims in an act of gruesome killing.
Musa Musasizi, a former street child-turned-businessman in Nakulabye on Wednesday, December 13, appeared before the trial judge, Margaret Mutonyi and pleaded guilty to the murder charges before he was slapped with the jail term.
Court heard that Musasizi during his series of killings would court the victims, and have sex with them before strangling or hitting their heads and later dump the bodies of his victims in places almost close to each other in Nakulabye and set them on fire.
State Prosecution led by Ms Emily Ninsima told the court that Musasizi on March 14, 2021, at his residence in Mujomba zone 6, Nakulabye with malice aforethought murdered one Noreen Nabirye. He is also said to have murdered Violet Kansiime, Abigail Nakitende on March 12 and Elizabeth Mutesi on March 15, 2021.
When arrested in March 2021, Musasizi confessed to having murdered the said women in which he explained that he killed Ahereza after suspecting her of having another boyfriend. He further narrated that he strangled Kansiime to death, then went and dumped her body and when he returned to his home, he strangled her three-month-old baby.
He also told police that he strangled Mutesi, a resident of Makerere because they got into a fight after sex when she rejected the Shs50,000 he had offered her as transport, on grounds that it was less than she expected.
He is also jointly charged with 23-year-old boda boda rider, Abdul Kasaija, with the murder of another female, Mackline Ahereza on February 22, 2021.
Considering the gravity of the crimes committed, Judge Margaret Mutonyi sentenced Musasizi to a staggering 105 years in prison sending a firm message that such heinous acts are not be tolerated within society, and those responsible will face the full force of the law.
The judge said the lengthy sentence was necessary to protect young women, including Musasizi’s six-year-old daughter.
The trial and subsequent conviction of Musasizi highlight the importance of a fair and impartial judicial system in ensuring justice is served. The court’s decision to impose a lengthy prison term demonstrates its commitment to protecting the rights and safety of individuals, as well as upholding the rule of law.
