AUUS Games 2023: Bugema into quarters after resounding 5-0 Victory over Bishop Stuart

East African University powerhouse, Bugema University, showcased their football prowess with a triumphant 5-0 over Bishop Stuart University securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) 2023. 

Bugema’s stellar performance on Tuesday, December 19, was climaxed by spectacular goals from Nyenje Abdul, a brace from Isaac Ssenyunja, Ssentongo Sulaiman, and SAWA Eric which propelled them to the next stage of the competition.

The team’s impeccable record in the group stage, including a 5-0 win against MUST, a goalless draw against Kampala University, a 2-0 triumph over Soroti University, and the recent 5-0 dismantling of Bishop Stuart University, reflects their dominance. 

Bugema not only secured a slot in the quarterfinals but also amassed 10 points, scoring an impressive 12 goals while conceding none in the group stages.

The next challenge for Bugema University awaits as they are set to face the hosts, Uganda Christian University (UCU), in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

With their outstanding performance so far, Bugema aims to continue their winning streak and make a formidable impact in the AUUS Games 2023.

In other notable matches, Uganda Martyrs secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Kyambogo, UCU edged past Busitema with a 3-2 win, MUBS and IUIU settled for a goalless draw, and Makerere emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline against Nkumba. 

The competition intensifies as teams strive for glory in this thrilling edition of the AUUS Games.
