AUUS Games 2023: Bugema, Uganda Martyrs to clash in tourney final

East Africa’s defending champions, Bugema University Wednesday are set to face off with Uganda Martyrs University on Thursday in the final of the thrilling 19th edition of the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games 2023.

The road to the championship finale was paved with intense matches, including a nail-biting semi-final between Bugema and Nkumba, where penalties decided the victor. The match which ended in a goalless draw at full time had to be decided in the penalty shootout where Bugema emerged victorious with a 4-2 scoreline.

On the other side, Uganda Martyrs University faced a tough challenge against the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in the semi-finals where the penalties had to decide the winner.

After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, UMU booked their spot in the finals by winning the penalty shootout 3-1.

Football enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate the final between University football giants Bugema University and Uganda Martyrs University on Thursday, December 21, at 11:00 am at Uganda Christian University playground in Mukono.

Before the final clash, fans will witness the third-place playoffs as Nkumba University takes on Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) at 9:00 am on the same day.

The stage is set for a football spectacle that will determine the crowned champions of East Africa in university sports.
