Police officer knocked dead in fatal car crash on Kampala-Gulu Highway

The traffic Police in central Uganda’s Luwero District are investigating a case of a fatal accident that claimed the life of a police officer in an incident that happened on Saturday morning.

The 09:00 am accident at Kizito zone in Luwero Town Council along Kampala-Gulu Highway claimed the life of a 60-year-old Sgt Senyimba John Bosco, a resident of Luwero barracks and a police officer attached to Luwero Central Police station.

“It [the accident] involved motor vehicle registration number UBJ 678J Toyota Hiace white in colour driven by un identified Driver, UBJ 273Q Fuso Fighter Blue in colour driven by Matovu Frank aged 25 years old, a Muganda by tribe and a resident of Masaka and a numberless Boxer red in colour driven by No. 43638 SGT SENYIMBA JOHN BOSCO Attached to CPS Luwero,” ASP TwiineAmazima Sam the PRO Savannah region said in a police statement.

Preliminary observations indicate that both motor vehicles were heading to Gulu side and the Motorcycle was heading to Kampala direction upon reaching Dawson petrol station, the taxi made a u-turn and knocked the motorcyclist who in turn lost control and fell in the Fuso Fighter and died on the spot/instantly.

“When police got the information, they responded in time visited the scene and documented it by Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), and vehicles were towed to Luwero CPS,” he added.

“A Sketch plan was drawn, one suspect was arrested and the body conveyed to Luwero Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination as the hunt for another driver is ongoing.”
