Deputy Speaker Tayebwa pioneers golf tourism with launch of Golf Tournament in Kabale

Kabale, (UG):- In a strategic move to elevate Uganda’s tourism sector, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa has inaugurated the annual White Horse Inn Golf Tournament in Kabale.

Highlighting the tournament’s under-exploited potential, Tayebwa underscored its significance in attracting high-net-worth tourists to the country.

“One of the challenges we are facing is that our tourism is bringing in little money,” remarked Tayebwa.

He added; “We can attract wealthy tourists through golf. The wealthy tourists play golf; let us come in and revive the glory of golf in Kigezi.”

The White Horse Inn Golf Tournament, a fixture in Kabale’s sporting calendar, holds the promise of not only showcasing the scenic beauty of the region but also positioning golf as a key driver for tourism revenue.

Tayebwa’s vision aligns with the broader strategy to diversify Uganda’s tourism offerings and tap into niche markets.

The Deputy Speaker emphasized the need for concerted efforts to transform the golf tournament into a major attraction for high-end visitors.

As the ceremonial tee-off took place, the Deputy Speaker encouraged stakeholders to invest in golf infrastructure and promote the sport as a leisure activity for tourists.

With a backdrop of rolling hills and lush landscapes, the White Horse Inn Golf Tournament not only promises a challenging sporting experience but also aims to position Kabale as a golfing destination on the global map.
