AFCON 2023: Cameroon, DRC, Morocco name squads ahead of Jan tournament

In anticipation of the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast 2023, African national teams have unveiled their provisional squads, setting the stage for intense competition. 

Cameroon, led by head coach Rigobert Song, have named a formidable squad of 27 players, with stars like Karl Toko-Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakar.

In Group C, the Indomitable Lions will face tough opponents Senegal, Gambia, and Guinea. The squad boasts a mix of experienced players and emerging talents across goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards.

Meanwhile, Sébastien Desabre, coach of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has revealed the 24 players entrusted with representing the Leopards in Group F. 

With notable names like Cédric Bakambu and Gaël Kakuta, the Congolese team is poised for a challenging campaign against Morocco, Tanzania, and Zambia.

Morocco, guided by CAF Coach of the Year Walid Regragui, is eyeing success in Group F. The Atlas Lions’ provisional squad of 27 showcases a blend of skilful goalkeepers, solid defenders like Achraf Hakimi, and creative midfielders including Hakim Ziyech and Sofiane Boufal.

South Africa, under the leadership of coach Hugo Broos, has unveiled a squad led by CAF Interclub Player of the Year Percy Tau. Bafana Bafana, drawn in Group E, will face Mali, Namibia, and Tunisia. The squad features a mix of seasoned players like Ronwen Williams and emerging talents like Evidence Makgopa.

As anticipation builds for the tournament, fans eagerly await the clash of these football titans in the quest for TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations glory.
