EXCLUSIVE: Kanyomozi poised to replace Ssenyonyi as NUP Spokesperson after KFM departure

Celebrated sports journalist and former President of USPA (Uganda Sports Press Association), Mr Patrick Kanyomozi is rumoured to become the new spokesperson of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party just moments after he announced his departure from 93.3 KFM, a Nation Media Group radio station.

Kanyomozi in a tweet on Friday morning revealed to his listeners that today, December 29, 2023, was his last and final day at the Namuwongo-based station where he has been employed for the past 13 years.

The Veteran journalist has been the sports producer, show host and co-host of the station’s KFM-Breakfast show where he interluded with sports briefs and updates alongside Brian Mulondo and Faiza Fabs.

“I made my final appearance on 933kfm this morning as I retire from radio and active journalism,” said Kanyomozi in a statement released via his account on X.

He added, “I leave a very contented man because, from a very young age, all I ever wanted to do was to be a Radio Presenter. I was lucky to get my first radio job during my S6 vacation and never looked back. I have lived my dream. I give glory to the most high.”

Now following his resignation from active journalism and radio, speculations have already started making waves that Kanyomozi, who is an ardent supporter of NUP Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine stands higher chances to be unveiled as the party spokesperson, a position currently held by Nakawa West MP, Joel Ssenyonyi.

According to sources we could not independently verify, Kanyomozi, known for his vocal ability and counteraction political debates will most likely take over the spokesperson role from Ssenyonyi who recently was appointed the new Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LOP).

All eyes are now set on the top leadership of the National Unity Platform (NUP) if the speculations will come true, as Kanyomozi eyes a grand entry into his political career.
