Uganda Premier League: URA cruise past Mbarara City, NEC and Bright Stars share spoils

Lugazi, (UG): Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC, led by Coach David Obua on Friday triumphed over Mbarara City FC with a resounding 3-0 victory in a commanding display at Mehta Sports Stadium in Lugazi in a showcase of the prowess and determination for the taxman.

The game kicked off with URA FC relentlessly searching for a goal and their efforts bore fruit in the 35th minute when Norman Namanya found the net, giving URA FC a 1-0 lead at halftime.

URA FC continued their dominance into the second half. In the 87th minute, Ivan Ahimbisibwe extended the lead with a well-executed goal.

The icing on the cake came in injury time (90+3′) when Moses Aliro secured URA FC’s victory with the third goal.

Simultaneously, at MTN Omondi Stadium, NEC FC and Soltilo Bright Stars FC played to a goalless draw in a closely contested encounter.

Despite fifteen minutes of intense play, neither team managed to break the deadlock.

In the sixty minutes that followed, both NEC FC and Soltilo Bright Stars FC continued to battle for supremacy. Enock Ssebaggala’s precise cross found Cromwell Rwothomio, who attempted a goal, but Matovu Hassan Muyomba’s vigilance denied NEC FC the lead.

URA FC’s triumphant performance at Mehta Sports Stadium showcased their dominance, while the clash between NEC FC and Soltilo Bright Stars FC ended in a hard-fought stalemate, with both teams sharing the points.
