Mbalae, (UG): President Yoweri Museveni through his Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC) has pledged to extend support towards the ongoing construction works at Nakaloke Centre Mosque as part of the ongoing empowerment activity in Mbale City.

In 2019, the Muslims in the Eastern District of Mbale launched a campaign to raise shillings 3 billion to construct a mosque, one of the biggest in the region. Construction works on the mosque began in 2019 works but stalled during the COVID-19 period after the Muslims failed to raise the required money to complete the project which was expected to be completed within a space of one and a half years.

It was until last year in April 2022, that the Muslim authorities in the region reawakened the campaign seeking over shillings 1billion to complete works on the mosque.

And now today, Saturday, December 2023, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) represented by Dr Nakimuli Mariam on behalf of Hajat Hadijah Namyalo at Nakaloke Playground in Mbale City commited that the office will support in whatever way it can to ensure that the fundraising campaign for the mosque becomes fruitful to ensure completion of Allah’s place of worship.

“The President of the people and our most loving grandfather we proudly call ‘Jajja’ has said this is a mosque of his bazzukulu and through his most hardworking Chief Muzzukulu Hajjat Namyalo has decided to support youths, women and all other bazzukulu groups with empowerment tools to help you start jobs and end poverty in your families,” Dr Nakimuli noted while handing over the items.

At the same event, the ONC donated an assortment of startup capital items to the various community groups and youths in Mbale to empower them to become self-reliant and work towards entering the money economy as urged by the President.

The items donated included; sewing machines, welding machines, spraying machines, chips frying machines, g nuts machines, and agriculture inputs, among others.

Dr Nakimuli further revealed that ONC’s empowerment drive which has left tens of hundreds across the country fully equipped economically, is still ongoing and urged all beneficiaries to use these tools effectively to achieve the program goals.

The Office of the National Chairman of NRM has since the beginning of the year been supporting Ugandans across the country with the viewpoint of empowering them economically as a stepping stone towards the middle-income economy which is in line with the NRM Manifesto.

Under the leadership of Hajjat Namyalo, ONC continues to traverse various districts empowering Museveni’s bazzukulu and as we report this, they are already minting cash on a daily basis using the tools donated to them.
