WATCH: Singer Ray G pelted with bottles at Enkuuka

Kampala, (UG): Western Uganda’s finest singer Ray G (real name Reagan Muhairwe) on Sunday faced the wrath of his own actions after revellers at Enkuuka concert pelted him with bottles during his performance on the night.

Enkuuka, an annual event hosted on 31st December at Lubiri Mengo marks the transition into the New Year and embodies the unity and festivity that define Buganda’s cultural heritage.

As the singer stepped out to perform on the stage, the revellers close to the pulpit started all out by pelting him with bottles, an act attributed to his recent altercation with female musician Azawi (read Priscilla Zawedde).

However, despite getting all the ill-treatment from the fans, Ray G displayed remarkable composure and continued his performance, defusing any potential escalation in the situation but his performance was cut short in the wake of continuing disruption from the fans.

It should be remembered that earlier last week, Azawi, demanded an apology from Ray G for disrespecting her and interrupting her performance in Mbarara.

During a Comedy Store show at the University Inn in Mbarara, Ray G stepped on stage right when Azawi was about to start her performance. This caused a standstill for a few minutes and created an uproar among fans on social media.

Azawi later released a statement claiming that Ray G verbally abused her and disrupted her performance, emphasizing that she deserves an apology for his unprofessional behaviour.

Ray G has faced criticism for not being fair to Azawi, especially in Mbarara where he is more popular and it happens to be his hometown.

More Chaos at Enkuuka

Another musician Sheebah Karungi also failed to complete her performance on the night claiming that as soon as she was given a chance to perform, the sound went off and fights started on the stage.

For other artists, however, the event was successful. Big Eye Starboss who had in the previous years been pelted with bottles whenever he stepped on the stage performed without any issues this time around.

The revelers even cheered him more when he revealed that Bobi Wine has been his source of strength in recent months and the reason why his career was revived
