AFCON 2023: CAF unveils 24 teams ready to shine in Cote d’Ivoire tourney

As the clock ticks down to the kickoff of Africa’s most prestigious football event, the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, the excitement is reaching a fever pitch.

On a momentous Saturday, CAF unveiled a list of 24 qualified teams set to battle for glory.

The opening match of the tournament is slated to take place in the vibrant city of Abidjan on January 13, 2023.

With the spotlight shining brightly on Cote d’Ivoire, football enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the clashes that will unfold throughout the competition.

In adherence to new regulations, each Participating Member Association (PMA) has the privilege of submitting a final squad of up to 27 players.

However, only 23 players from each squad will be eligible for selection in the matches throughout the tournament, adding an extra layer of strategic planning for the teams.

A noteworthy provision in the regulations stipulates that a player in the final squad can only be replaced in the case of a serious injury, and this replacement must occur no less than 24 hours before the team’s first match.
