German tourist killed in Kabale road crash, two others injured

The wreckage of the tourist vehicle which got involved an accident that claimed the life of a German national on January 6, 2023 in Kabale District

Kabale, (UG): The Police in Kabale are investigating the cause of a Saturday fatal road crash which claimed the life of a 58-year-old German tourist and left two of his colleagues nursing serious injuries.

The deceased identified as Dr Wendsche Ralf was in the company of his female colleague identified as Silk Venus, 48 and their driver, Nyombi Morgan, 60, when their vehicle got knocked by a speeding Fuso lorry around Kabaraga village in in Kyanamira Sub-county, Kabale District at around 9 am on Saturday, Jan 6, 2023.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Elly Maate confirmed the report and said the tourist vehicle involved in the fatal crash belonged to Kibo Slopes Uganda Ltd.

“It is alleged that a tourist Toyota land cruiser car was coming from Bwindi Gorilla Valley in Kigezi region heading to Kampala. When it reached at Kabaraga corner in the Kabarage hills along the Kabale-Mbarara Highway, a speeding Fuso Fighter lorry knocked it on the driver’s side,” Mr Maate said in a police statement.

He explained that Ralf died on spot while his female colleague, Silk Venus and the driver sustained serious injuries.

DailyExpress understood that the Kigezi regional police commander ACP Ibrahim Saiga, together with the regional traffic officer SP Fabian Betubiza and other police officers visited the accident scene before the injured were taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

The body of the deceased had been taken to the mortuary at the same health facility by press time, while the wreckage was towed to the same facility for inspection by the inspector of vehicles.
