Adjumani, (UG): The Chiefdom of Palaro one of the biggest clans in Adjumani District are set to welcome the first son who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to preside over the inaugural ceremony of their Clan Chief, Opi Beka Zachary.

Should he give affirmation to the invitation, it will be the first time Gen. Muhozi will be stepping foot in Adjumani for a public event and it will be a big boost to the MK Movement in the North West Nile region as the people in the area have simply been watching the movie of the infant movement.

Opi Beka, who is widely known in the Madi sub-region as a very humble and generous chief is the brother-in-law of the former Chief of Staff of the Army during former president Milton Obote II’s regime Maj Gen. David Oyite Ojok, and his sister Mrs Perina Oyite commonly known as Mama Simba passed on in 2007.

The Palaro Clan Chief is among the 11 clan chiefs in Adjumani that were approved by the district council on October 30, 2023, following a long-drawn impasse of tracing the roots of clan chiefs after cultural institutions were banned by former President Milton Obote I government in 1966.

Pakele Army football ground in Pakele town council has been identified as the venue where the grand Inaugural event slated for January 25, 2024, will be held.

During a press interview at his palace in Pakele Town Council on Thursday, Opi Beka said the Chiefdom decided to invite the Gen Muhoozi as a gesture of appreciation to President Yoweri Museveni for his careful and wise decision of restoration of cultural institutions in Uganda.

“The chiefdom has written to Gen.Muhozi Kainerugaba through Adjumani district chairman Mr. Anyama Ben on November 28, 2023, and there is evidence that the letter has been acknowledged we are therefore waiting for feedback,” he stated.

“In this great technological advancement if cultural institutions are not left to play their roles of modelling the young people society would surely experience a meltdown in moral decadence leading to a lost nation,” Opi Beka added.
