Tanzania’s Adel Amrouche confident ahead of AFCON 2023 opener

Tanzania’s Taifa Stars head coach, Adel Amrouche has expressed confidence in the team’s preparation as they embark on their TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 journey in Cote d’Ivoire.

Tanzania begin their Group F campaign against 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists Morocco on January 17th at the Laurent Pokou Stadium, San-Pedro, and Amrouche has emphasized the thorough preparation of the team.

“The team has prepared well, and we are waiting for the last day of preparations to see the final readiness before the match against Morocco. We have taken care of all aspects, and the players are ready to go and fight for the Tanzanian flag,” stated the coach during a recent interview.

Despite a recent 2-0 loss to Egypt in an international friendly, the Taifa Stars are determined to make a strong start in the competition, facing challenging matches against Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the group stage.

Reflecting on their last AFCON appearance in 2019, where they faced defeats against Senegal, Kenya, and eventual champions Algeria, Tanzania aims for a better performance this time.
