ONC’s Namyalo goes hard on police for conniving with ‘mafias’ to evict over 4000 residents in Nakawa

Kampala, (UG): President Museveni’s Office of the National Chairman (ONC) under the leadership of Chief Muzzukulu Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has vowed to ruthlessly deal with selfish police officers aiding land grabbers to displace innocent residents and demolishing structures set up to benefit the community in the country.

Namyalo, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs (SPA/PA) was Thursday speaking at the launch of a multimillion project which includes secondary school and hospital facilities in the Banda-Nakawa Division

Her remarks came after the LC1 Chairpersons from Banda B, Kinawataka, Kiganda and Kasokoso speaking at the function decried to her office about the eviction being effected by Uganda Police accusing the Force of demolishing all their properties.

“Despite having stayed on the land for over 25 years, Uganda Police claimed to own the land and decided to use all the necessary force to chase off all the Bibanja owners,” one resident cried to Namyalo.

Responding to the residents’ woes, Hajjat Namyalo expressed a lot of disgrace about how Uganda Police is handling this matter which involves the lives of more than 4000 women, children and the elderly’.

”I am not happy to launch a project worth millions of funds which Uganda Police intends to demolish the following day,” Namyalo said, adding that it is wrong to create internal refugees in the country unless the Uganda Police finds land to relocate the victims as guided by the laws of Uganda.

The ONC Boss also wondered what the area leaders, (majority of whom are from National Unity Platform (NUP) are doing to protect the peasants from the greedy grabbers she described as mafias. She therefore advised them (the mafias) to re-think clearly while voting for their leaders to avoid being abandoned in such circumstances.

Namyalo also rallied the community to collectively stand and come up with a petition that would be addressed to several stakeholders in an authority-inclusive parliament and promised to bring their concern to the attention of her boss, President Museveni.

The newly launched multi-million project in Banda-Nakawa Division is funded by Ms Businge Rose, the Director of Meeting Point International, Luigy Giussani High and Primary Schools which host over 2000 pupils, with students paying only Ugx 60,000 as school fees inclusive of scholastic materials.

Ms Businge the proprietor of the schools revealed that she decided to fund the projects to change the lives of locals who were living in poor conditions.

“I came to this place many years ago when it was devastated by cholera and other diseases. No one desired to live under such conditions, so I decided to contribute towards improving the people’s livelihood, thus these projects,” Ms Businge said.

She thanked her for standing in with the common people and assured her to continue supporting the Acholi community in partnership with the government to better their livelihoods.
