Hoima, (UG): Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President, Eng Hon Moses Magogo on Wednesday spearheaded a team on an inspection tour of the 20-acre plot allocated for the construction of Hoima National Stadium.
The proposed stadium, coupled with two standard training grounds, aims to be a modern international sports facility.
Joining them were State Minister Hon Peter Ogwang and representatives from the appointed contractors, SUMMA. The delegation, accompanied by Hoima City Resident City Commissioner (RCC), political leaders, and SUMMA contractors, assessed the site’s readiness for the impending construction works.
The ambitious project aligns with the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) deadline of 31st December 2025 for completion.
Expressing confidence in the team’s capability, Hon. Ogwang assured that the necessary preparations and formalities would soon conclude, paving the way for the commencement of construction.
SUMMA, the chosen construction company, is set to play a pivotal role in bringing the vision to fruition.
The site visit served as a precursor to the groundbreaking ceremony, which will witness the official handover of the site to SUMMA.
Notably, this event is scheduled to be presided over by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady, Hon. Janet Museveni, who also serves as the Minister of Education and Sports.
Hon. Ogwang emphasized the government’s commitment to a comprehensive sports structural development plan, focusing on stadiums across the nation where feasibility studies have been conducted.
The imminent transfer of the land title to the National Council of Sports (NSC) marks the final stages before construction can commence.
In his call to action, Hon. Peter Ogwang urged the people of Bunyoro sub-region to extend maximum cooperation to the contractor, ensuring a seamless execution of the project within the stipulated timelines.
As the groundwork progresses, Uganda anticipates the rise of a state-of-the-art sports facility in Hoima, setting the stage for the country’s participation in the 2027 AFCON with pride and enthusiasm.
