Uganda Hippos, Queen Cranes to play at 2023 All Africa games

Kampala, (UG): The Uganda U20 Men’s National Team, (Hippos) and the U20 Women’s National Team, the Queen Cranes, have secured spots at the prestigious All African Games scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana, from March 8-24, 2024.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) finalized the list of participating teams, confirming that for the men’s category, the eight Quarterfinalists from the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023, alongside the host nation Ghana, will compete in the event.

This mirrors the age category applied during the TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON.

Uganda will face tough competition from Benin, Congo, Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Sudan, and Tunisia as they vie for glory on the African stage.

On the women’s side, the teams that reached the fourth qualifying round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022 will earn their places in the Final tournament of the African Games Accra 2023, maintaining consistency in the age category.

Hosts Ghana will be joined by formidable opponents Cameroon, Ethiopia, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Football enthusiasts can look forward to an intense and thrilling tournament showcasing the talent of young footballers, as the African Games Accra 2023 promises to be a spectacle of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
