LIST: Best schools in 2023 PLE with highest number of 4 in 4 ranked as Hormisdallen schools top the chart

Kampala, (UG): As candidates all over the country continue celebrating their performance in the recently released results of 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), schools with the best performance in the country have been ranked based on the number of 4 in 4 aggregate scores.

At the apex of the top-performing schools is Hormisdallen Primary School, Gayaza outshined other schools in the country after emerging with the most number of candidates with four aggregates in four subjects.

According to the official results sheet, Hormisdallen returned a total of 68 candidates from the school with Aggregate 4, while the sister school; Hormisdallen Day School, Kampala, came in second position with 34 candidates.

In total, Hormisdallen Schools returned a total of 104 pupils with 4 in 4 aggregates across its three branches in Gayaza, Kamwokya and Kyebando.

The other top schools that saw candidates scooping Aggregate 4 were; Yudesi Primary School, in Kampala and St. Marcelino Junior School, Nansana, each with 21 students scoring 4 in 4.

Mother Majeri Primary School, Kira (20 candidates), El-Shaddai Primary School, Gulu City (19 candidates) and Global Junior School, Mukono, (15 candidates), while Nkokonjeru Primary School, Mbale City (13 candidates), Victorious Primary School, Mukono (13 candidates), and Namagunga Primary School, Mukono (12).

Seeta Junior School, Mbalala-Mukono (12), St. Noa Junior Boarding School, Zana- Makindye Ssabagabo (11 candidates), Kabojja Junior Primary School, in Kampala, registered (10) candidates and Namiryango Junior Boys Primary School, Mukono (10).

Additionally, Hillside Primary School, Kira (7) while Sudhir Ruparelia’s Kampala Parents School had 5 candidates scoring 4 in 4 aggregates.

The list above however doesn’t indicate the total number of candidates who passed in Division One, but rather those who had an excellent score with four in four aggregates.

For a candidate to score aggregate 4, it implies that he/she achieved a Distinction One (D1) in each subject of English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science.

During the release of the results at State House, Nakasero, Executive Director of the Uganda National Examinations (Uneb) Mr Dan Odongo said a total of 749, 254 candidates from 15, 859 schools registered for PLE in 2023 compared to 832, 654 in 2022.

Last year, 2023, the schools that emerged with the highest number of candidates in Aggregate 4 were Hillside Primary School, Kira with 99 pupils, Hormisdallen Day School, in Kampala (46), Mother Majeri Primary School, Kira (38) and Hormisdallen Primary School, Gayaza with 35 candidates.
