FUFA Drum 2023: Busoga, Lango to face off in grand finale

Busoga and Lango Province are set to face off in the finals of the FUFA Drum 2023 following their respective victories in the semi-final fixture over the weekend.

Showcasing intense battles, both winning teams secured their spots in the final through aggregate scores as Busoga edged out Teso Province 1-0 (Agg. 3-1) while Lango Province emerged victorious over West Nile Province on a 2-1 aggregate despite losing the second leg semifinal with a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

Busoga Province’s journey to the final was highlighted by an outstanding performance from Isaac Wagoina. The first leg witnessed Wagoina’s prowess as he netted two crucial goals. Despite Teso Province’s late consolation goal by Robert Eseru, Busoga maintained control.

The second leg, hosted at Kamuli Institute Grounds, saw Jerome Kirya securing their final spot with a 3-1 aggregate score, and Bakali Magumda’s stellar performance earned him the Man of the Match title.

On the other hand, West Nile Province fought hard in the second leg, securing a 1-0 victory with a goal from Muhammad Shaban in the sixty-eighth minute.

However, Lango Province’s earlier dominance, marked by Denis Omedi’s goals in the first leg, proved decisive.

The 2-1 aggregate score favored Lango, denying past winners West Nile a chance in the final. Muhammad Shaban’s notable contribution earned him the Man of the Match accolade.

The stage is now set for a thrilling final showdown between Busoga and Lango Provinces, promising an electrifying climax to the sponsored competition.
