Kampala, (UG): Police in Kampala are investigating a robbery case that happened at Pride Theatre Junction Namirembe Road where a businessman was attacked by unknown assailants armed with pangas and went away with all the money on him.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire identified the victim as Geofrey a resident of Kawempe in Kampala who had received USD 86000 (about shs 327,923,000) from one Muhirwe Ronald with the intention of exchanging it in Kikuubo for further business transactions.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Muhirwe arrived in Kampala via Gateway bus at about 8 am and was allegedly being trailed by the assailants all the way from Kisoro district.
Immediately after he handed over the money to Geofrey, unknown people travelling on a bodaboda attacked him with pangas and went away with the money.
Owoyesigire added that police using CCTV cameras managed to identify the suspects with the nicknames of Pallaso and his accomplish only identified as Mbaziira both said to residents of Kisingiri village on Salaama road makindye division in Kampala.
Police noted that this has been a routine for traders to transport dollars from kisoro for the purchase of merchandise warning traders to modern money transfer services.
