Bugema University Don, Prof Paul Katamba dead

Luwero, (UG): The Bugema University fraternity is still absorbed in grief following the death of Prof. Paul Katamba, who served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics (DVC-Academics).

Prof Katamba passed away on Tuesday evening, leaving a void in the university community.

“Bugema regrets to announce the passing away of Prof. Katamba. May the good Lord strengthen the family and all of us,” announced Dr. Pr. Kafero Israel, the Vice-Chancellor of Bugema University.

He has been on sick leave since August of the previous year. During his absence, Mr Mugheno Leonard, the Registrar of Bugema University, had assumed the responsibilities as the acting DVC-Academics.

According to the tentative burial program, there will be a thanksgiving prayer session in honour of Prof Katamba’s works today (Wednesday) at Bugema University Chapel, Main Campus at 3:00 PM.

Prog Katamba will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Namirembe, Ssemuto on Thursday, February 1st at 2:00 PM.

In the meanwhile, Bugema University has appointed Dr. Rosette Kabuye as the acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics to fill the void left by the deceased academician.

Dr. Kabuye, a 48-year-old Ugandan with a robust academic background, previously served as the Dean of the Graduate School at Bugema University’s Kampala Campus.

She is expected to lead Bugema University into the next chapter, continuing its commitment to academic excellence and growth.
