All is set for UPDF’s 43rd Tarehe Sita celebrations in Bugweri

Bugweri, (UG): Preparations for the 43rd Tarehe Sita celebrations at Busesa playgrounds in Bugweri District due tomorrow, (Tuesday, February 6th) are all done according to the UPDF army and Bugweri local leaders in the area.

The 43rd celebrations are expected to be graced by UPDF’s Commander in Chief (CiC) and President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who will preside over as the chief guest at the district headquarters at Busesa, the banners welcoming the president have been pinned in all corners of the area.

At the playgrounds, the army and other service providers were seen Monday evening winding up with setting up the tents, arranging the chairs, marking the area where matching will take place, among others.

The state minister for internal affairs, Gen David Muhoozi spent the day in Bugweri district while commissioning the structures which were constructed by the UPDF like at Bumoozi primary school in Buyanga sub-county where he commissioned a classroom block as well as in other places of the district.

He said that they donate to the public as a way of giving back to the people who supported them during the war and he tasked people to use the current peace put in place by the ruling NRM government to engage in a number of economic activities to improve on their livelihood and promote growth of their region.

“We call upon you and Uganda as a whole to use the peace generated by the ruling NRM government to transform your lives by improving self and community livelihood via embracing various economic activities given the strategic location of your district on the highway,” Gen Muhoozi said.

The area leaders who include the Bugweri the woman MP Hon Rachel Magoola alias Obangaina and the RDC Ms Janet Billy Mulindwa commended the army for a number of activities done in the region and called upon people to attend the function tomorrow.

“We thank the UPDF for doing good work in the district like the health camps and other projects which were initiated by late Kirunda Kivejjinja have been worked on by the army. Health centres and schools were worked on and we thank the government for choosing this district to host the historical day,” RDC Mulindwa said.

RDC Mulindwa said the UPDF health camp has benefitted not only Bugweri but also the Busoga sub-region adding that other projects like the classroom blocks and other developments will serve the area appropriately.

She said that they expect a multitude of people tomorrow from all corners of the country at Busesa playgrounds and rallied people to attend the function and also petition the president on a number of issues as a region.

“We can’t estimate the number of people we’re hosting today since they are coming from different corners of the country, but we call upon everyone to come and we expect you to petition the president on the developmental pledges he has been raising especially to Busoga and Bugweri in particular,” Ms Billy Mulindwa said.

The people in the area are eagerly waiting for the day and they told this publication about the benefits they expect from the celebrations which includes improvement in infrastructures, among others.
