Umukhuka III to meet newly appointed Inzu Ya Masaaba ministers

Mbale, (UG): The Umukhuka III of the Inzu Ya Masaaba Kingdom, His Royal Highness Jude Mike Mudoma will Friday this week host and meet his newly appointed ministers and also issue commissions to each of the appointees.

The Umukhuka is the cultural leader of Bamasaaba in both Kenya and Uganda who are approximately number to 10,000,000 people. He presides over Bududa, Mbale city, Manafwa, Namisindwa, Sironko, Bulambuli and Mbale district in Uganda, plus Bungoma and every umumasaaba in the diaspora of Uganda and Bugisu region.

The bamasaaba in Uganda are also scattered in Districts like Kayunga, Busoga and recently the Kiryandongo dwellers who were forced to resettle them on account of government response and guidance on mitigation of landslides in Bududa and other areas of Bugisu.

The cultural leader reigns supreme based on the constitution of Uganda in the Cultural Leaders Act 2011. The state objectives on culture and the national cultural policy 2019, the local ordinances and by-laws made by bamasaaba on culture and customs and not limited to various East African protocols and international conventions on culture.

The appointed ministers and commissioners will assist his highness the cultural leader of Bamasaaba to serve his people. A team of eminent men and women has been assembled to help the cultural leader serve his people. This is envisioned in the way Jesus Christ assembled a team of followers and disciples to help serve as he could not work alone.

The tasks of Umukuka and his team are purely cultural and the law discourages us from engaging in legislative or executive tasks which are the preserve of the local governments in the region.
