Arua Hill back to Big League as FUFA upholds decision on UPL exclusion

Kampala, (UG): The FUFA Club Licensing Appeals Committee has affirmed the decision to exclude Arua Hill SC from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, underscoring persistent violations of licensing regulations by the football club.

The FUFA Club Licensing Committee, acting as the First Instance Body, identified a pattern of continuous breaches of obligations outlined in the FUFA Club Licensing Regulations by Arua Hill Sports Club.

This prompted a detailed evaluation on January 10th, 2024, as the Committee scrutinized Arua Hill SC’s compliance across all five aspects of the Club Licensing Criteria.

Alarming reports, including the failure to field the required number of players for matches and multiple club ownership transfers, catalyzed this review.

Despite these concerns, the Committee allowed Arua Hill SC an opportunity to present its case, urging the club to resubmit information in adherence to regulations.

Despite the club’s efforts to rectify its standing, the FUFA Club Licensing Committee determined that Arua Hill SC’s submitted information still fell short of minimum licensing requirements.

Consequently, a decision was made to withdraw the club’s license, prompting Arua Hill SC to appeal against the ruling.

Following an exhaustive investigation, the FUFA Club Licensing Appeals Committee concurred with the initial decision taken by the First Instance Body.

As a result, Arua Hill SC is now advised to prepare for the upcoming 2024/25 Betpawa Big League season, marking a relegation to the second division.

This development places Arua Hill SC at a critical juncture, highlighting the importance of strict adherence to licensing regulations in Ugandan football and raising questions about the club’s future strategies in light of this setback.
