As Bugema University proudly approaches its 75th year of unwavering commitment to excellence, the Bugema fraternity is gearing up for a grand celebration, marking the occasion with a Fundraising Marathon set to take place on the 18th of February 2024.
Speaking about the upcoming events, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Kafeero Israel emphasized the significance of the Fundraising Marathon saying; “The Fundraising events will continue throughout this year, with another joint marathon planned for November. We call upon each one of you to stand with us in supporting this noble cause.”
The primary goal of this fundraising according to Prof Kafeero is to secure funds for the completion of the science complex at the main campus, a project aimed at advancing Bugema University’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
Prof. Dr. Steven Oloo, the coordinator of the Fundraising Run, highlighted this objective, underlining the importance of community support saying in verbatim; “The run is aimed at raising funds to facilitate the completion of the science complex at the main campus.”
DailyExpress understands that the marathon itself will see the main campus joined by the Kampala campus for a 10-kilometre run, fostering a sense of unity and purpose.
Additionally, other Bugema campuses in Arua, Mbale, and Kasese will host similar events on designated days, all contributing to the shared cause of enhancing Bugema’s educational infrastructure.
To participate in the marathon, kits are available for purchase at 25,000 UGX. The kits will be conveniently accessible starting this week across various Bugema institutions, including Bugema Primary School, Bugema Secondary School, and Bugema Vocational Institute.
Bugema’s fundraising efforts won’t conclude with the marathon alone as a grand finale is planned with a Fundraising Dinner set to take place at Hotel Africana Kampala on the 22nd of February 2024.
Subsequently, the main celebrations will unfold on the 25th of the same month at the main campus, culminating in a fitting tribute to Bugema University’s 75 years of academic excellence, growth, and community impact.
