Namutumba Woman MP Mariam Naigaga donates iron sheets to Nabweyo constituents

Namutumba, (UG): In the heart of Namutumba’s land, a woman of strength and grace does stand in Hon. Naigaga Mariam, the woman member of Parliament for Namutumba District; true and bold, Fulfilling promises, and breaking the mould.

The legislator today recapitulated her pledge and indeed delivered 85 iron sheets worth shs 3,900,000 to the Nabweyo sub-county fraternity to aid in the completion of the administration block which came to a standstill due to insufficient funds.

Hon Mariam Naigaga noted the need to support sub-counties to effect service delivery since the government sometimes lack enough money to execute their mandatory obligations in the stipulated time.

She cautioned on the misappropriation of these iron sheets by calling on the technical wing to refrain from any act that would shatter their reputations.

In August’s heat, during the parish model sensitization campaigns, in her words pledged to support government projects, to nourish minds, to help them edge closer to a future with bright and clear progress.

Through education, health, and community welfare; She commended the education department for the relentless and strenuous efforts exhibited in the concluded primary leaving examinations where Namutumba managed to scoop 221 first grades, a pass rate of 83.2% and a failure rate of 17%.

And to PDM beneficiaries, she cited the need to stick to the seven core pillars of the model, but with stringent attention to the mindset pillar. She briefed members to delineate from projects they are not well conversant with and emulate the technical guidance provided by the staff as they wait for the second batch of funds to be dispatched soon.

Local Leaders led by Kiyemba Mukoka, the Local council’s three chairpersons applauded the legislature for having a giving heart and requested him to continue lobbying for them, especially a health facility since many people are burdened with walking long distances to the nearby health centre.

“With iron sheets delivered, you gift a dream to build a block, a shining gleam, service delivery improvement and hope, hence guiding future paths, and saving resources,” Kiyemba noted.

Kiyemba, a democratic party cadre however emphasised the need to focus on initiatives that enhance service delivery in the district.

He also tasked the legislature to consider rehabilitation of Nabweyo-Kaliro Road which has claimed the lives of many citizens and advised fellow councillors to stop indulging in nonsensical arguments and switch focus to service delivery.

Mwemeke Juliet, the sub-county chief says this is a good initiative that will see them effectively run their operations to deliver quality services to the citizens.

Juliet thanked the area member of Parliament for the unwavering support and placid character as evinced in fulfilling her pledge. The senior assistant secretary, committed to duly using the provided iron sheets for the purposes intended.
