Student who went to shrine to bewitch boyfriend raped by witchdoctors

Police in western Uganda’s Mitooma District are holding two witchdoctors arrested for allegedly raping a student of Kampala International University and stealing cash worth shs2.9 Million from her.

The victim (names withheld) a Bachelor’s of Social Work and Social Administration (SWASA) student at KIU’s western Campus had reportedly approached the witchdoctors’ shine to give her charm that would stop her boyfriend from cheating on her.

Mr Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesman confirmed the incident and identified the suspects as Nazario Bazarwa 72, and David Bamwetaki 57 all residents of Nyantoma parish Kashenshero sub-county in Mitooma District.

According to Mr Tumusiime, the two witchdoctors are said to have told the student to spend the night at their shrine and the medicine would be administered the following morning. It is believed that during the night, the duo joined hands and raped the helpless KIU student.

The area police spokesperson added that the two have been charged with rape and obtaining money by false pretense and the file is already at state attorney’s office.
