Uganda secures hosting rights for Rugby Africa Cup 2024, 2025

Kampala, (UG): Africa Rugby has unanimously granted Uganda the privilege of hosting the prestigious 2024 and 2025 Editions of the Rugby Africa Cup at the iconic Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

To ensure impeccable readiness, the Minister of State for Education and Sports, Honorable Peter Ogwang, thoroughly inspected the Rugby playing field at Namboole. Accompanying him was the President of Uganda Rugby Union, Mr Godwin Kanyangwe Arinaitwe.

The recent renovations at Namboole, designed to cater to various sports disciplines, including Rugby, were scrutinized by the officials. Hon. Ogwang expressed his satisfaction.

“I am glad to report that we are ready to start hosting both local and international games.” Mr Ogwang stated.

The minister extended his gratitude to H.E Yoweri Museveni, the President of Uganda and the First Lady for their support in making the bid possible.

“Special thanks to H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Minister of Education and Sports, Mama Janet Museveni, for their unwavering support in making this possible,” he added, before thanking Africa Rugby for the vote of confidence entrusted in Uganda.

As the country gears up to showcase its commitment to the sport on the continental stage, the announcement marks a significant milestone.

With the backing of key figures and the completion of renovations, Namboole Stadium stands poised to host a thrilling series of Rugby events.
