Namutumba, (UG):- Boda-Boda riders in Namutumba District, Busoga Sub-Region have been advised to get organized in groups if they are to benefit from the various poverty alleviation programs from the government within their communities.
This came during a meeting held on Saturday between the coordinators of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) along with the District NRM Registrar and the security team headed by the DPC Mr Nuwagaba Herbert, purposely to enlighten the Boda-Boda riders on social, political, and security matters.
At the meeting, the Chairperson of Boda-Boda riders in Namutumba District, Mr Wamunye Sam expressed dissatisfaction about the criteria used in choosing the beneficiaries of government programs like PDM, Emyooga & NYP money was not favouring the riders.
In response, the ONC District Coordinator, Ms Naigaga Lilian advised Mr Wamunye and his fellow riders to be organized if they are to benefit from government programs.
The DPC, Mr Nuwagaba Herbert cautioned riders to always avoid engaging in submissive activities like protests after being facilitated with a mere ten thousand shillings and also advised them to stop using Kenyan number plates.
Conclusively, the team from ONC in the eastern district implored the riders to be organized, focused and to remain supportive of government programs by engaging in them directly to uplift their livelihoods.
