Museveni’s office calls out on corruption blocking access to PDM, Emyooga in Makindye

Mr Matambala Vincent Kanakulya, the ONC Coordinator for Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality in Wakiso (R) speaking to Busabala residents on Monday, March 04, 2024

Makindye, Wakiso:- President Museveni’s Office of the National Chairman – NRM (ONC) has lashed out at corrupt officials blocking the implementation of government programmes to reach the intended beneficiaries and urged the locals to speak out on those missing their offices for the personal benefits.

This was revealed on Monday, March 04, 2024, by Mr Matambala Vincent Kanakulya, the ONC Coordinator for Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality in Wakiso while monitoring the implementation of government programmes in the municipality.

Representing the ONC Head, SPA/PA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo at the exercise, the ONC coordinator had the opportunity to conduct a monitoring and evaluation exercise for PDM and Emyooga beneficiaries in the villages of Busabala ward.

While interacting with the locals, Mr Kanakulya noted that communities appreciate Jajja Museveni’s leadership, which has introduced well-thought-out initiatives against poverty. Positive testimonies were shared, along with some highlighted challenges.

He was, however, disappointed by the corrupt individuals who frustrate the residents with unnecessary paperwork in accessing the PDM and Emyooga funds, a factor he says hinders the implementation of such government projects and breeds the corruption vice in the community.

“It is disheartening that corruption and paperwork frustrations are hindering service delivery in these projects. Communities reported corruption, among other factors, as some of the reasons why these initiatives have been progressing slowly,” Mr Kanakulya noted.

Subsequently, Kanakulya urged the communities to continue reporting such cases (of corruption) and pledged to involve relevant stakeholders such as the Anti-Graft body for action to be taken against the implicated officials.

In the same meetings, the ONC coordinator conveyed warm regards from SPA Namyalo to the Bazzukulu and used the same opportunity to inform them that Jajja will be contesting in the forthcoming elections, and he asked the communities to provide him with the necessary support.

Conclusively, Mr Kanakulya implored communities to actively participate in the upcoming NRM Register Update exercise by ensuring they are registered members and by mobilizing others to register with their respective branches.

It should be noted that President Museveni through his NRM National Chairman (ONC) empowers regional and district coordinators with the task of getting involved in the active monitoring of government projects and programmes to ensure the tax-payers money is put to good use and accounted for.

Among the programmes the coordinators actively get involved in include the Parish Development Model (PDM) implementation, education projects, markets and other socio-economic ventures set aside by the government.
