NUP’s Lubega Vincent declared new Makerere Guild President

Kampala, (UG):- The Makerere University Electoral Commission has declared Lubega Vincent Nsamba as the 90th Guild President at Uganda’s oldest university.

According to the results tally sheet signed by the commission chairperson Mr Kirunda Ramadhan, Lubega Vincent Nsamba, a candidate of the National Unity Platform (NUP) garnered 2450 total votes from across the 11 colleges at the university in the tightly contested online elections held today, Thursday, March 07, 2024.

Nsamba’s closest rival, Ariho Edmond came close in second with a difference of four votes, at 2536 total votes.

Kasekende Fulugensio (1674) and Wandukwa Simon (1089 votes) finished third and fourth respectively out of the 16 candidates who vied for the Varsity’s 90th Guild seat in this year’s elections.

Below is the final tally sheet as declared by the Makerere Electoral body.

According to the University Electoral Boss Mr Kirunda, a total of 25,000 voters were expected to participate in the election, indicating significant engagement from the student body.

As the newly elected Guild President, Nsamba will be tasked with representing the interests of the student body, advocating for their rights, and working collaboratively with the university administration to address pertinent issues affecting the campus community.

Nsamba’s victory has been met with enthusiasm and anticipation on social media as students look forward to his leadership.
