Jinja, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Jinja district are holding in custody a 45-year-old Askari and sugarcane cutter for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl after seducing her with a chapati of shs500.

The suspect identified as Okori Emmanuel, a resident of Nairo cell, in Kakira Town Council has been working with Madhvani Group as block Askari.

Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson, SP James Mubi Wednesday confirmed the incident that reportedly occurred on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

“The accused person lured the four-year-old victim with chapati of five hundred shillings on March 12, 2024, at around 3 pm in his rented house located in Nairo cell, Kakira Town Council in Jinja district,” SP Mubi said.

The heartless incident according to Mr Mubi was unveiled by 70-year-old Auma Neko who is also a cleaner in Kakira Town Council while carrying out her routine work when she heard screams for help by the desperate girl in the rented room of the suspect.

The cries for help prompted her to enter Okori’s house to find out what exactly was taking place with the suspect wholly naked and forcing himself on the victim.

Mr Mubi added that Okori upon being nabbed in the act attempted to bribe the old woman with five thousand shillings (Shs 5000) which she refused.

By press time, police had explained that the victim was to be examined medically and the mental status of the suspect established as prosecution-guided investigations take centre stage.

Mr Mubi advised the public to possess the spirit of love, care and courage related to the one exhibited by the old woman saying she deserves appreciation from Kakira and Jinja authorities as well as other well-wishers.
